Unveiling an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Poop on a Quest to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have discovered plenty of interesting independent titles. However, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure lets you play a hero that is literally a piece of poop trying to travel to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."
The gameplay is simple: you only need a one button to leap. In 150 challenges, you'll face tough enemies and visit a shop to acquire skins for your dung hero.
Plan your actions carefully, as a wrong move means starting over. Jump off bubbles to propel yourself upward, traverse crumbling ledges, and touch switches to unlock secret routes. Earn UN-KOINS for buying more difficult levels as the action gets crazy.
In terms of design, the demo shows off eye-catching level designs and catchy music score. Its minimalist art with shifting basic polygons evokes memories of fans of old favorites like Earthbound.
While it's tough to think of previous releases where you control a coiled turd, video games frequently incorporated fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can make throwables from character waste. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, fecal references shows up heavily in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already earned significant accolades, such as being named best at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is accessible now on Steam, with the final release scheduled to arrive on PC in the fall.
